Testimonials

I asked her why she had come for a session.  She said she had terrible headaches, shoulder, neck, and back pain.  Four years earlier she had been in a car accident.  She had been through the entire medical model – doctors, pain meds, physical therapy, massage therapy, and pain clinics.  Nothing helped and they told her she would have to get used to living with her pain.

We discussed her symptoms, and I was dismayed when she said she contemplated suicide daily.  She was 22 years old.

I did an Ortho-Bionomy session and scheduled a session for the following week.  When she came in for her second session, I asked her how she was doing. She said she had not considered suicide since before the last session and that the pain in her head, shoulders, neck, and back was almost non-existent.

She was wondering though if Ortho-Bionomy could really be responsible for her improvement because the previous session had been so gentle and felt so good and it seemed like I had hardly done anything to her.

So here we have a bodywork that is so gentle and subtle that even someone who has experienced significant reduction in horrible pain could not quite believe it was true.

But it was true for her, and it can be for you too.

Ortho-Bionomy is a gentle, clothes-on body therapy that was developed by British Osteopath Arthur Lincoln Pauls in the early 1970’s.  The “position release” techniques, which are completely painless and require little or no effort on the part of the practitioner, tap into your body’s inner wisdom and its capacity to release tension and re-align the structure. So, your body is actually doing it for you.  The spine and joints are gently moved and held in comfortable positions, stimulating neuromuscular reflexes which melt away tension and allow the body to gently bring itself back to balance.  Ortho-Bionomy shows the body a comfortable way of being and once shown, the body moves to rebalance itself.

You might ask why the body needs to be shown a comfortable way of being.  Well, Dr Pauls suggests that with accidents, illness, injuries, and stress the body sometimes gets confused and it is this confusion that inhibits the body from continually being able to re-balance itself.

So, how does this work impact the symptoms and problems that clients typically suffer? Every client is different, and each situation is different, but often clients report a significant reduction in chronic pain, tension, or stress, and immediate relief from acute pain.  There can also be releases of emotional blockages, and increased energy levels. Some of the specific areas that have been positively impacted by Ortho-Bionomy include whiplash, headache, sciatica, back pain, arthritis, neck and shoulder pain, joint pain or restricted movements in joints, nervousness, stress, insomnia; the list really goes on and on.

I found Ortho-Bionomy after years of searching for relief from body pain. Nothing else I tried addressed my pain like Ortho-Bionomy sessions did. I began studying Ortho-Bionomy in 1988 and in 1997 I became the 35th instructor in the world.

I maintain a private practice in Shakopee, Minnesota.

Ortho-Bionomy is generally taught in weekend seminars around the world.  The Society of Ortho-Bionomy International, Inc.® is an international organization with instructors that either live in or travel to all corners of the world.  The beginning levels of the work are very body oriented, while the advanced levels utilize a unique form of energy work.  The classes are well suited for anyone interested in natural health and self-care, along with health care professionals.  The work is compatible with other systems of health care or personal growth.

I teach with a respectful and playful approach.  I love teaching this work, and empowering and encouraging self-discovery to enhance the quality of your life.
