Welcome!
Have you heard of Ortho-Bionomy? The common response is: "Ortho What???" I will give you the definition a little later. For now keep reading.
Do you have pain in your body and you have been unsuccessful in finding relief? Do you have too much stress and its starting to have a negative effect on you and your life? Have you wondered why your pain is getting worse when you feel like you are doing everything right? Have you thought about what the pain in your body is trying to tell you?
Pain is interesting in that it can push us toward our path of healing and enlightenment. Often, it’s a path we didn't know existed for us.
NOTE: An Ortho-Bionomy session will be the most relaxing hour of your life!
My goal in life is to share Ortho-Bionomy with as many people as possible! Wanna know why? Ortho-Bionomy is a phenomenal bodywork! I have seen and experienced amazing healing during sessions and during classes.
Ortho-Bionomy allows you to be exactly who you are. You are affirmed and acknowledged in every second during a session. How does that happen? The Ortho-Bionomy practitioner uses your movement patterns to find your position of comfort, then adds gentle compression to hold positions for 30- 60 seconds, which allow the body to change, (self-correct) the stress and pain patterns which are causing discomfort.
This "self-correcting" happens in the proprioceptive reflexes in the joints and muscles - the nervous system. And your body uses your own "self-correcting" reflexes all the time – without you knowing about or thinking about them.
When you are standing and you shift from leg to leg, when you fold your arms, when you cross your legs, when you change positions during sleep. All those movements are your body “self-correcting”.
Think of it like you’re standing with your weight shifted to the left – your left leg is tired of having all the weight on it, so your body shifts toward the right side so all the weight is now on the right side of your body. Then let’s say your body is done with that position so now it wants to lean against a wall.
If any of the positions gets uncomfortable your body wants to move to a new position of comfort. Your body is self-correcting all the time. And each and every movement involves the whole body.
Dictionary Definition of Ortho-Bionomy:
ortho = straight, correct
bio = life
nomy = study of, laws of
Definition by the founder, Arthur Lincoln Pauls, a British osteopath: “The correct application of the laws of life”.
I like to explain it as “being comfortable in your body” by using your self-correcting reflexes” discovered during Ortho-Bionomy sessions or self-care exercises.
What happens when you find an Ortho-Bionomist and what is a session like? In a typical 55 minute session, the client, clothed and without shoes, lies on a bodywork table after having identified areas of discomfort. The Ortho-Bionomy practitioner will make light contact with the body and use range of motion, comfortable positions, and gentle compression allowing the patterns of tension to release and be replaced by a sense of wellbeing.
Drop me a line if you want more info or to schedule a session.
Interested in studying Ortho-Bionomy? I've just added my 2023 and 2024 schedule of Ortho-Bionomy classes. Take a look and see if any of the dates will work for you.
NOTE: Some people like to take classes to get 2 days of body work instead of one session at a time. This involves learning all about Ortho-Bionomy and working on other students in the class.
